What's the educational world coming to???

My first summer class starts tomorrow. This past Friday, I was chatting with an undergrad student about the summer term, and she mentioned that she already had homework for her May class. I wondered how she knew about it, and discovered that teachers can post such info through WebCT, an online resource.

I got online and checked my class, and sure enough, I have homework also. We haven't even started yet, and I already have a two-page paper and another short assignment due on the first day of class! What is the educational world coming to? Whatever happened to summer break?

I've been told that anyone who is anyone has a blog these days, so I guess I'll join the ranks. I mean, even my less-than-a-month-old nephew has his own blog now! Not exactly sure what to do from here, but I'll come back later and add some more...
